The Lost Boy Empty
PostSubject: The Lost Boy   The Lost Boy EmptySun Jun 27, 2010 10:45 pm

The sirens went off. A scanner from a drone showed a flashing red dot moving away from the camp ground. Someone got out. A squadron of police, lead by myself, went after the escapee. My reason for following along was that this was the first person to escape this camp site in years. With watch towers, security cameras, and the fact that the camp is surrounded by concrete walls topped with barbed wire, it was remarkable that a soldier would even consider trying to escape, much less actually achieve such a feat. I wanted to see the marvel myself. I was escorted to a scout tank and we took off in the direction of the criminal. We plowed through the rocky desert and stopped near a cave. The troops unloaded and darted into the cave, machine guns in hand. I stood at the mouth of the cave and waited, being updated by the troops through an earpeice. The target was close and still moving.

"Target found, sir"

"Excellent. Bring him to me."

In a few moments the soldiers returned. They dragged a young boy and threw him in front of me. The boy looked no older than 12. He raised an eyebrow as he looked up at me. "Well, we've got a Houdini on our hands."

"Silence!" the boy shouted. "I'll kill all of you!"

I kicked the boy in the face. "I think you'll find," I said to the boy, "that we are more than capable of doing the same to you."

The boy was put in handcuffs and dragged to the tank. We returned to the camp site.

Hours later, the boy was brought to an interrogation room. I sat behind a metal table. The boy was strapped to a chair before me.

"State your name and number."

"James 037."

"Ok James, obviously another jackboot to the face won't make you confess anything. Let's resort to something a little more...devastating."

I pulled out a taser blade and sliced at his hand. A jolt of electricity was sent through his body. He screamed and shuddered. "How did you escape!"

"I can't tell you!"

"You insect!!" I screamed. I sliced at his palm again. He screamed with terror. "You will NOT ignore my demands anymore. Tell me how you did it!"

"I can't tell you because you wouldn't believe me!"

I raised the blade again, but I stopped. "What do you mean? I wouldn't believe you?"

"I don't know how I got past the security. I awoke from a dream, and I was outside of the wall! I was frightened and I ran."

"Frightened of what? The police?"

"No. I was spoken to in a dream. What was said to me made me fearful."

"Spoken to? By who?"

"An angel."

I couldn't help but laugh. "An angel?"

"Yes."

"And what did this angel say to you?"

"He told me...he told me a great end was upon us. On this island."

"What?"

"I don't know. The angel warned me of something that would end this order as we knew it. Something would change drastically on this island. After the angel spoke, I awoke outside the wall."

I puzzled. I took in what the boy had said. I had nothing else to ask. I stood and left the boy in the room. I walked to one of the soldiers. "Did you get anything out of him sir?"

"Yes."

"What do we do"

I looked the soldier in the eye and said, "Beware."
